What's this? New Coldplay material so soon after the release of Viva La Vida? In fact, Prospekt's March is a collection of songs that were chiefly intended for the band's fourth album that weren't finished before the deadline. There are eight tracks in total (some new, some new-ish), and a couple of re-workings of older material. Amongst the re-imaginings is a largely decorative Osaka Sun mix of "Lovers in Japan," and a version of "Lost" that includes an unlikely guest vocalist in the shape of Jay-Z. It seems to work. Of the new material, the piano interlude "Postcards from Far Away" is the shortest and most coruscating work, while "Life in Technicolor (II)" is larger (but slightly less successful), adding only cursory elements to its predecessor on Viva La Vida. More alluring are the gigantic "Glass of Water," the experimental "Rainy Day," and the beautifully melancholy "Prospekt's March/Poppy Fields." Overall, the album is a mixed bag of sorts, but one that's generally more enjoyable than not.--Danny McKenna

Not much else to say but this is excellent and a must have for Coldplay fans, even non-fans should give it a try. There is a lot of music on this album and I can play it over and over...Just an all around awesome album with some new sounds and instruments but same beautiful writing and execution.

Already a fan of Coldplay and IMHO, this is definitely their best album to-date and is certainly one of the best 100 albums of all time! Almost every song is nothing less than fantastic. Seriously, you must own this album! Check it out online, from a friend, borrow it from your local library or one of the many other free ways available first, but trust me, you simply can't go wrong with this one. Buy it!

This CD is awsome!!! Love Prospekt's March it was a wonderful surprise. I thought from the other reviews that it was just a tweaked duplicate of Viva la Vida, but it is has its own sound in so many ways. I love them both and have listened to them everyday since I got them.

Before purchasing this album, I had doubts whether the tracks were worth listening to and after hearing first-hand how bad X&Y was, I was justified in having second thoughts about buying it. After hearing that the album had dropped down to $5 for a limited time, I decided to buy it and experience it first-hand. What I experienced was an almost perfect album. I have to admit that it does stray from their earlier albums like "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" but not being a hardcore Coldplay listener, I welcomed the change. Songs like "Lost!", "42", "Lovers in Japan" to name a few showcase Coldplay's new and welcomed direction where they expirement with various styles. Not to mention all the songs are extremely catchy and they will be stuck in your head for days. Here are some of my comments on the songs:
Life in Technicolor - 4/5; Short but sweet
Cemeteries of London - 4/5
Lost! - 5/5; Catchy
42 - 5/5

This CD has some tracks and some melodies taken from Viva La Vida, but they are either mixes or even mis-mashes of the songs. I have enjoyed it.
