Amazon.com:
(Amazon.co.uk Review) Safe Trip Home, the third album from singer-songwriter Dido, sees the chanteuse cook up a slightly different ambience than on previous albums No Angel (1999) and Life for Rent (2003). Though her signature elements remain in place--the limited, slightly cracked falsetto; the dreamy, comforting trip-hop vibe--there seems to be an extra density to Safe Trip Home, doubtless provoked by the loss of her father in 2006. The added weight is predominantly in the lyrics, which tend to focus on loss and heartache, but there's extra detail and depth in the musicianship too, since Dido has been busy honing her skills as a multi-instrumentalist. Despite the denser themes, the music still drifts by in classic Dido style, moving smoothly through the insouciant “Don't Believe in Love", the aptly titled “Quiet Times", and “Never Want to Say It's Love", before arriving at the somber-yet-elegant six-minute standout “Grafton Street", co-written with Brian Eno and featuring Mick Fleetwood on drums. The rest of the album unfurls in similarly sophicticated fashion, featuring the folkish “Look No Further", the upbeat “Us 2 Little Gods", and a nine-minute poetic closer called “Northern Skies". Put simply, Safe Trip Home is Dido in superlative form. --Danny McKenna

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Absolutely Stunning!
I was kinda on the fence about trying out this album but i did. I was deffinately not dissapointed! This has to be Dido's best album. It's sublime, it's subtle and it's powerful. Her voice sounds so ethereal and incredible.
The lyrics of this album really hit home. I absolutely love this album and she's made me into an even bigger fan. I will be waiting with extreme anticipation for her next album. Cause this one was PHENOMENAL

My Top 5

1. The Day Before The Day
2. Quiet Times
3. It Comes And It Goes
4. Grafton Street

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Underrated masterwork.
I admit I am a little late buying and listening to this gem. Its ironic, since I have been waiting for its release since 2003s last recording. Safe Trip Home is somewhat colder, sadder and soberly emotional as previously heard. Perhaps its the state of the music industry that has basically fallen off the face of the planet. Its musical power from this artist hasnt faltered in the least. Modern melodies you can sing along with that have become Dido's trademark. This time, there is a less brighter side.

I Dont Believe In Love, the first track/single was poorly promoted in the U.S.A. It is radio friendly, and the most upbeat track. Next, things slow down to an somber pace that illustrates a failed relationship. Grafton Street builds to a powerful, mornful crescendo, with a Celtic accent. The rest of the record has some pain, yet its there to share, which makes it tolerable. Burning Love(not to be confused with Elvis) is fun and promises that Dido will continue her brilliant career. ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Stupid Arista Tricks
I have no problem listening to this album and giving you my opinion of it. But, when the first hurdle is to figure out why the record labels wants me to pay extra for a so-called "Bonus" version, then prevent me from enjoying it, I don't think that quite deserves my respect.

I am a committed Dido fan who might have some very compelling things to share about this album. But when Arista cares more about preventing me from listening to it because they are so scared the fans of a mondo-mega-seller like Dido might shortchange them a few pennies by playing the bonus disc in my computer - WHEN IN FACT THE FIRST DISC PLAYS AND RIPS FINE! - well, their corporate stupidity probably just cost them a glowing review.

The bonus disc automatically boots-up with its' own player, and plays the video fine. However, consumers should know that it's the very same video you can access right off Amazon's page for free, so if you were going to spring for the Bonus Edition for the video, ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - thinking about the past
What I like most about this Album of Dido's is how much it makes me think about lost friends. The first time I listened to The Day Before Today I knew I had to get this album. The emotions Dido was able to convey through her words in that one song were astonishing to me. I do not think anything has ever touched my "soul" as much as that song did and continues to do.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Music for quiet moment
I don't know what I can say about this review.
I can say that I like Dido , I love her smooth voice and music.
I live in Italy, Tuscany, and I like listen to Dido in front of fireplace,
tasting a good Chianti!
Try to play it loud with the lights off.
