   background / biography

“My Shikome are a 5 piece metal band based in Oxfordshire. They formed in 2003 under the name ‘Dekt’. As Dekt, they played gigs far and wide, with such bands as SiKth, Amplifyer, Vade meccum, Smilex, Kaowin, Jor and many others. Dekt was also a featured band on the Metal compilation album ‘The Best of Oxford Distortion’ from Akuaba records. Sinse 2005 under the name ‘My Shikome’, the band has really stepped up to the plate. Playing more, and rocking more, covering the midlands with their unique sound, and building a solid and devoted fan base as they go. They have played many gigs and festivals, including Mantlefest in Banbury, and headlining the ‘Ride for life’ event at Epic skate park in Birmingham. One of their tracks has also been used as the soundtrack in the marketing campaign for the European Skate and BMX brand ‘hood’, which can be heard in Germany, France, Holland and Switzerland. This band practices far more than they sleep and so each performance is extremely tight. They are also extremely mental in their stage shows. They are as much visual as they are loud, and love getting the crowd to go nuts! This is a band to watch!!”
