Just recently started listening to these guys & went into it with a more open mind for getting into other fast & furious Americana speed-demon metal. IMOP, Devil Driver reminds me of Pantera more towards their later studio efforts mixed with some growth hormones that contain elements of those sons of the Dark North! Fans already know its speed, thrash, punky, heavy duty metal, but this time with a few more twists in the devil's tail!
What I like about Pray For Villians is that this effort offers a bit more melody & catchy riffs that show these guys just don't thrash & trash every minute from start to finish. However @ the same time, this effort to me never loses the focus of what the band truly is & continues to offer metal fans! From the title track to the end, few of the songs have some unique guitar riffs and some soloing with some Maidenesque qualities. One killer track " It's All In The Cards", imop., has a Sabbath influenced beat that reminds one of the Sabotage classic ... Read More

DevilDriver has been one of my favorite bands since Dez left Coal Chamber ... I love Dez's style, and I think the world of his ability. The previous three DevilDriver albums have been gritty, heavy, cutting edge, and driving ... enough to motivate some insightful mosh pits or riots. They are AWESOME.
However, Pray for Villains is weak in my view in comparison to their previous albums. Not so much the music itself, but lyrically: it is starving. The substance of Dez's lyrics ... suck, for lack of better words. He sings about, well, most of the lamest cliche's in metal currently, which he has never done before.
I do like the title track: Pray for Villains, BUT, sadly that is the only one that has caught my attention, and I've listened through the album a good five times.
My recommendation: buy their debut album, which is self-titled, and buy Fury of Our Maker's Hand. The songs on those two cd's will blow your mind with how intense and in-depth they are. ... Read More

DevilDriver has never let down my expectations. In fact, they get better and better. Despite a few exceptions, this album surpasses all of their older work. The title song (Pray for Villains) and Resurrection Blvd. are really awesome. There were a few songs that didn't do anything for me (It's In The Cards, for example), but overall, the album was excellent. This is a must buy for any DevilDriver fan. If you like death metal and have never heard DevilDriver, then you need one of their albums immediately.

It seems like with each successive release, DevilDriver keep turning up the dial of heaviness. Great drums and guitar work, the Dez's vocals is amazing, and you can find in this record, another step toward better musical moment of DevilDriver.

Not much to say about this album really not a lot different than the last couple of their albums. I'm still waiting for them to come anywhere near as good as their first album, Devil Driver. The song Back with a Vengance is definetly the best song on the CD.
