We wanted a simple metronome to help with the childrens' piano and violin rehearsing. This one is simple to use and has all the features that we required. I can tell my five-year-old to set it to 88 bpm and she has no trouble following that direction. A fine product for the price.

I like the volume control. I like the compact size (it is the size of a deck of cards). My nine year old son has had no problems with figuring out how to use. The "chirping" sound it makes sounds like the old Atari games; I don't find the sound to be annoying at all, but then again, I'm a mom of four kids, so it would take a lot to annoy me. I have two sons in piano now. One is an audio learner, the other visual. This metronome works for both. One watches the digital stick, the other listens to the the chirping. It compact, cost efficient and for my beginner pianists, it does the job.

I bought this for my 14 yr old daugher, who recently began piano lessons. I looked for the 'old fashioned' kind, that I had many years ago. They were all very expensive! I decided to try this one, while determining if my daughter will stay with the lessons. She thought the sound of the 'beats' was a little intrusive at first but after a few weeks, really likes using this metronome. She takes it with her to her lessons and it has other features that a standard metronome doesn't, as far as tempo and pattern changes. Batteries are required.

The features all work except the headphone jack - if I plug my headphones all the way in, it only plays in one ear (never had a problem with this on any other players with the same headphones). I had to keep it partially plugged out but since I like to keep the metronome on my bass drum (so it's within easy reach), playing frequently knocks the plug off. I remember having this problem when the first portable cassette players came out in the 70's but this is now a new millennium and this should no longer be a problem.
Even with headphones (and I have isolation headphones) and the volume cranked to the max, I still had problems hearing it.

I was disappointed in the quality of this item. It was a "cheapy," lightweight quality (but then it wasn't that expensive). I also couldn't get it open to install the batteries no matter what I did, so I returned it.
